Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is under 21 and therefore not eligible for a gun license in Massachusetts. He now faces the possibility of a mandatory one year jail term for carrying a firearm without a license.
Perhaps he can serve that time on federal death row.
The federal government has charged the surviving Marathon Murders bomber with using a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in death. There’s a copy of the FBI’s complaint here.
Either charge can carry the death penalty.
Almost every single working hypothesis I had about the Marathon Murders case while the suspects were at large turned out to be wrong. Not knowing what was really happening, I’ve chose to let the situation play out rather than add to the wrongheadedness flying about. That hasn’t been good for traffic here at Hogewash!, but OTOH, I’ve also missed out on being the object of things like this.
