The Inner Party’s Dilemma

Joe Xiden is a failed president, and his handling of the Afghanistan debacle is grounds for impeachment. Indeed, if he were a prime minister in a parliamentary democracy, he would have either resigned or have lost a vote of no-confidence by now.

But the United States isn’t a parliamentary democracy. We’re a federal republic with separate legislative and executive branches. Xiden can’t just be sent to the back benches while his party maintains its majority in the legislature. If Xiden is deposed, Kamala Harris will leave her role in the Senate to become President. That will leave the Senate split 50/50, giving the Republicans an effective veto on her nomination of the new VP. They can leave the post vacant, ending the Democrats’ ability to break ties. If Harris replaces Xiden, their legislative agenda is dead. That doesn’t mean that some of it won’t slip through, but the overreach used to push it through will not sit well with most voters.

The various Inner Party factions will spend the next weeks and months in damage control mode. There will be a lot of infighting, and the collateral damage to America may be severe. But I expect they will so weaken themselves that 2022 will not be a good year for the Left.

Stay tuned.

The Inner Party v. The Apparent Inner Party

For several months I’ve been saying that Andrew Cuomo is toast because he he is no longer seen as a asset by the Inner Party. Now, at first glance it would seem that a state governor would be an Inner Party member, and he is in a nominal sense, but he’s not really a member of The Inner Party. Don Surber has a post up that explains why.

Cuomo’s problem is not sexual harassment. His problem is Democrats see him as a threat if he chooses to run for president.

Democrats in Washington want no part of playing second fiddle to an outsider. They had their fill of outsiders as presidents with Bill Clinton. Democrat senators want the White House all to themselves. In the 6 presidential elections since Clinton, Democrats have nominated a senator or former senator for president and vice president each time.

Governors need not apply.

Congressional Democrats can control a Biden or an Obama.

Cuomo would be a wildcard.

Cuomo’s power base is outside Washington. There’s a Democrat who will take over as governor when he’s ousted. He’s toast.

Why #MeToo Instead of Manslaughter?

New York’s Senators Schumer and Gillibrand have announced that it’s time for Andrew Cuomo to resign. The reason they give is that a handful of the women who the governor may have sexually harassed have come forward with public complaints about his conduct. The Gentle Reader may wonder why the still intact lives a few people are of greater moral weight than thousands of the dead, but that’s not the question the senators are addressing.

Now that the Democrats have control of the White House and Congress, those with the top jobs are working to secure their positions and power bases—and to weaken and neutralize potential competitors. New York Democrats generally supported Cuomo’s handling of the Wuhan Virus Pandemic last year. They are vulnerable to being tagged as accessories or enablers to the granny killing. OTOH, if they can get Cuomo taken out for his personal behavior at times and places where they weren’t present, it may be possible for them to dodge any accountability for their Covid Collusion.

So Cuomo must go, and #MeToo serves the Inner Party’s interest.

Outliving Their Usefulness

Now that The Party is back in control of the White House and both houses of Congress, the members of the Inner Party who got the plum positions are working to secure their power. (“The object of power is power.“) Of course, this requires that certain individuals who were useful in removing Orange Man Bad from office need to be neutralized or eliminated lest they become competitors rather than allies.

Cuomo must go. #MeTooing him has the advantage of putting Outer Party members at the head of the mob, and allows him to be taken out without having to actually be held to account for the nursing home deaths that have not played well with the Proles.

Newsom must go. He has been too incautious in flaunting his Inner Party privileges.

Whitmer must go. She made a fool of herself while auditioning for the VP nomination last year. While there is beginning to be some legal pushback on her record of nursing home deaths, if’s likely that another scandal will be found for her as well.

There are others on the list. It will be interesting to see who gets taken down as the junta attempts to secure its hold on power.

They’re Only Kidding

OK, there are a few crazies among some of the city councils that are acting to defund their police departments, but none of the serious politicians on those bodies actually intend to defund the police functions they view as important. Someone has to enforce the Inner Party’s political will with violence when necessary and with the threat of violence at all times. You can call the city employees who do that “cops” or whatever else you wish, but the function of guarding the Inner Party and enforcing its will will always be one of the key functions of government.

Granted, funding may be reduced for some employees who maintain order among the proles for a while, but as long as there is no disturbance of the Inner Party’s calm or challenge to its rule, that’s merely a tactical detail to be administered by the Outer Party bureaucracy.

After all, if there’s no one around to enforce the law, people might go to the grocery store without wearing masks. Or refuse to pay taxes.

Funding the Police

This was posted on the Twitterz—Mayor Ted had a security detail (of Portland cops) protecting him. As I’ve noted before, the Inner Party will always take steps to insure that there is a sufficient police force to protect their interests.

BTW, this sort of unfiltered, on-the-scene reporting may be what defeats the street thugs of Antifa and BLM. They’re using the ’60s playbook that relies on the public getting fed reporting filtered through friendly editing. While the MSM is working to provide that sort of coverage, too much truthful coverage is leaking out faster than it can be suppressed.

Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

No, That’s Not the Way the System Works

While I’m drinking my second cup of coffee this morning, I’m seeing comments on various social media suggesting that one of the things that should happen if blue cities #DefundthePolice is the abolition of security details for elected officials. I doubt that would happen. Indeed, I expect those would be among the very last police details to be cut.

Whether at a local or national level, the whole purpose of being in the Inner Party is to exercise power, and that power is exercised via the Outer Party bureaucracy to keep the Proles in line. The Inner Party will always try to have sufficient resources in place to protect itself and enforce its will, so there will always be a place in the Outer Party for those enforcers. Department A4 of the Gestapo was Protective Services. The KGB had its Close Protective Services directorate.

Outer Party resources may be shifted about, and that may reduce policing of certain activities among the Proles, but the Inner Party will always try to deploy sufficient resources to protect its interests.
