NGC 1566 is also known as the Spanish Dancer Galaxy. It’s an intermediate spiral galaxy; it does not have well defined bar-shaped structure at its center. The galaxy gets its nickname because of the swirling lines of its spiral arms which some see as evoking the shapes and colors of a dancer’s moving form.
