ESA has launched a new spacecraft call Euclid that is intended to map the sky searching for data relating to dark matter. It will not orbit the Earth. It will orbit the a point know as Lagrange 2. L2 is one of five spots in space where the Earth and the Sun’s gravities are of equal strength.
