These infrared images of volcanic activity on Jupiter’s moon Io were taken by the JIRAM (Jovian Infrared Auroral Mapper) instrument aboard the Juno spacecraft during a flyby of the moon in 2021. Io is fourth largest moon in the Solar System, slightly larger than Earth’s moon. With over 400 active volcanoes, it’s the most geologically active body in the Solar System.
