I’m So Old …

… I remember when CBS aspired to have a credible news department as part of their operation.

I doubt that either Fred Friendly or Edward R. Murrow would have voted for Donald Trump, but I’m also reasonably certain that neither would have tolerated the sort of shoddy journalism displayed by Leslie Stahl in her recent interview with the President.

  1. I’m kind of constantly amazed that typical (i.e. not very smart) journalists think they can trap Trump. The have delusions of adequacy. I watched the unedited video and Stahl is awful. I really look forward to seeing how 60 Minutes edits that pants load into something that makes her look at least as not-quite-so-retard as Trump’s video does. Because the comparison will hurt CBS and Stahl even more.

    • They’re not smart, but they’re used to the public not seeing how the sausage is made. And they’re used to little or no effective pushback.

  2. 1) Leslie Stahl has ALWAYS been n embarrassment.
    2) Jeez John, what are you thinking? Edward R. Murrow territory?CBS has been a Legion of Screw-Ups since they hired Dan Rather in the late 50’s.
    3) I’ve said it before and it bears repeating; when I attended Indiana University in the late 1970’s (Go Hoosiers!) my roommate failed a Trig Test the first week and re-declared his major to Journalism. When I asked him why, he said that his counselor said journalism is (a) and Easy “A”, (b) all the girls were easy and (c) believed everything you told them, and (d) IF YOU NEEDED SOURCES, ALL THAT CRAP WAS MADE UP ANYWAY.

From a career counselor this came.

I joined the Army instead. They gave us weapons and clear objectives, and nothing was made up.
