A Prediction From Earth Day, 1970

The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.

—Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

If you don’t believe this settled science, you must be a climate denier.

  1. I do so thoroughly enjoy reading settled science text from the olden days…when the Earth was flat AND the center of the universe…when there were only 5 elements (earth, wind, fire, water & ether – the latter two were kicked out of the band after they failed a drug test, I think)…when there were only 4 simple machines and not 7…before Thomas Edison and Henry Ford killed all the candlemakers and buggywhip entrepreneurs…it must have been a great time to be alive!
