  1. hate to be pedantic, but Latin “died out” in the same way that Old English “died out”.

    It just morphed into modern forms. In fact, it’s fair to say that the modern English language itself is simply a combination of evolved Old English and evolved Latin, with a big pile of vocabulary from across the world tossed in.
