  1. And other things. I’ve dragged my kid along a few times this week to look at used cars we are shopping for a family member. When we got in the car to leave, I asked if he had any idea what my seemingly random actions were about.

    I pointed out that you get the info you need and move on. Don’t dwell on fixable items except to note them for haggling. Spend more time in odd areas looking at items of repair that require farming out. And these couple of minor issues are symptomatic of larger ones.

    And the random banter with the seller reveals what his skills are, why he made certain choices, and how trustworthy he may be.
