Doesn’t NaCl lack the crucial element that is the very definition of something that is organic? It’s been 20+ years since changing my major senior year from Chen to the dismal science (p chem and differential equations killed me) but ISTR a little bit of it.
Liberals are the dumbest people on the planet. They’ll buy anything labeled “organic” to make themselves feel better. And the irony is, they complain that Corporate America is screwing them.
I live in farm country, organic means it was fertilized using manure, and no pesticides. The farms around here use a lot of manure, but they have to rotate the fields–i.e. you put manure on field this year it can not be used for food crops has to be used for a non food crop or left fallow.
If at a farmers market always ask if manure was used on the field and when, if they say this year then DO NOT buy.
I bought a sugar-in-the-raw clone a few years back which proudly announced on the bag that it was carbon free. (upper right corner of the package) http://imgur.com/hHYlOAX
I am still in awe of the stupidity on display.
Exactly, though this one might be even more apt: http://imgur.com/eyA27hK
I keep wondering what they replaced the carbon with in the sucrose molecules. Silicon?
A few years ago, Rush Limbaugh did one of my favorite routines that went something like this:
“I’m sitting here eating French fries. With salt. Cooked in trans fats. And I’m drinking a Big Gulp.”
Of course he broadcast it from his studio in Florida. Nanny Bloomberg must have been boiling and he couldn’t do a thing about it. Ha!

Oh, wait, 19 years.

No, really!

Yep, that way you only get the migrant’s manure on your food, instead of also some animals’.
Wash your produce, folks, no matter what.
Hell, wash anything you get at Chipotle.
Cut out the middle man and toss it right into the toilet.
Eh, I saw milk labeled “gluten free” the other day. Stupid people will fall for anything.
At least, while pointless, the label is accurate. See my post below.

Not able to get to imgur from work (I know, but I’m lunch break).
Are either/ both of those Domino’s Sugar?
So let’s see… sugar IIRC is C6H12O6, if you remove the carbon that’s H12O6 which will probably break up into 6H20.
Carbon-free sugar = water
No, it’s Florida Crystals Natural Sugar. It’s so sad to see two sugar companies who don’t know what their product is made of.
The copy writers don’t have a clue, but they are very conversant with popular culture, and its many buzzwords.
Silicon-based sugar would work fine for a Horta. Not so much for us.
Ground glass, basically.
Yes, but is it trans-fat free?

Well, there’s kosher salt…
/I know the salt is used to make things kosher and salt, by itself, is kosher.
It’s called that because it is coarse and sticks well to wet things.
And because the Salt Mohels snip the tip off of every grain. That’s why it costs more.
I thought the salt shochets ritually killed the big chunks of salt…
Here’s some non-GMO salt for you.

Sweet baby Jesus!
I toured a salt mine outside of Krakow. It was amazingly dry and cool, and one of the least “organic” places I have ever been.
There are times when I despair of the sense of the average consumer.
The salt harvesters use only untreated wooden or polyethylene tools.
Isn’t polyethylene a product of petroleum farming?
Note that the Celtic Sea Salt is also gluten free.
