A Pluto Flyover

Images downloaded from the New Horizons spacecraft were stitched together and rendered onto a sphere to make this flyover. The animation starts with a low-altitude look at the mountain range named Norgay Montes, moves to the north over the boundary between Sputnik Planum and Cthulhu Regio, turns, and finally drifts slowly east. During the animation, the observer’s point of view rises until it is about 10X higher than at the start, showing roughly 80% of the hemisphere New Horizons flew by.
