  1. I also have personal issues regarding Barney,and his reruns; both professionally, and in my private life. However, as cruel and unusual a punishment it is to be exposed to such victimization, the 8th Amendment does not actually apply here, because I can always remove myself from the vicinity of those who would expose me to Barney. For example: do not put the DVD on in class, do not click on the link that takes me to Barney songs on the Net, changing channels on PBS, taking a walk in the real world, or even putting on headphones that limit my exposure to such “entertainment” in my own home. It saves me from becoming involved in many lawsuits against those who happen to enjoy their freedom of speech to produce and/or appreciate Barney.

  2. I will never forget when my then 3 year old son was sick with a fever and the only thing that soothed him was to lay his head on my lap and watch Barney alllll dayyyyy longggg. When my husband got home I told him it was his turn and left the house.
