How Pingbacks Work

Those of us who blog using WordPress software usually wind up sending a pingback to other blogs when we link to them. Pingbacks are more that just links. Here’s some of what the WordPress dot org website says about pingbacks.

It is commonly believed that pingbacks do not send any content, as trackbacks do. This is not correct. If you get a pingback, you will see an excerpt from that blog in the Edit Comments section of your dashboard.

There occasionally may be a reason why one might want to link to a blog post without communicating with the linked blogger via a pingback. While the default setting for WordPress software is to enable the sending and receiving of pingbacks, it is possible to create a link without sending one. Simply uncheck the “Attempt to notify …” box in the Settings/Discussion control panel, and no pingback will be sent.PingbackSwitch

  1. Either Bill lied, or he is an idiot. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. He had the option to either send or not send a pingback. He chose…poorly

      • He tends to make it a habit to choose poorly; his failed marriage choices, his political alliances, and his seeming inability to man up, and actually show up ih Court to defend himself. Easier to blame Mr. Hoge than to accept that it was Bill the Elder that screwed up big time.

  2. He also argues that he did not send the pingback since his name is not on the email. Well none of the people he accused of sending him the horseshit names were on the package but that didn’t stop old stupid Billy from saying they “caused” it to be sent.

The lying liar can’t keep his stories straight. Maybe if he didn’t lie so much he wouldn’t have so much trouble.

Oh, and he is still terrified of John, Paul, Grady, etc. You can tell my his “they are trying to kill me” schtick.

      THIS.

The Deranged Cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt simply likes to play both ends against the middle in his tiny, irrelevant world. But, then insists on behaving like a petulant, oh-woe-is-me, hysterical boob when the rest of the world refuses to play along, and instead opt to hold him accountable for his nonsense, abuse, harassment, and illegal antics.

The Demented Freak refuses to comprehend that laws, rules, common decency, and societal norms refuse to bend to his weak will, nor do good-and-decent people much care about his whining, balled-up-fists, and stompy feet when he doesn’t get his way.

Heck. My dog has a far better understanding of how the world works, and how to behave in the company of others.

  3. Thank you for the primer on the pingback. If the intended audience does not understand the internet, common decency, copyright law or the Streisand Effect, you might not have much luck explaining the pingback.

    Good luck, though.

  4. Well whatta ya know… the walking, talking colostomy bag lied. Again.

This is my shocked face. Really it is….

  5. I somehow knew, without yet seeing any of what are probably earlier blog posts related to BS and ping-backs, that this would be connected to him….

  6. OK, I’ve looked; I’m not seeing anything detailing BS’s sending of ping-backs. Can someone help me out?

  7. Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.

Isn’t sending information kind of implied in the name?

Although maybe if someone hasn’t been in the military (especially the Navy) or seen a movie Like Hunt For Red October, it might not be apparent.

Now, a person could ask, why would he approve it? BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT HAVE A REASON (however weak) TO SEEK CONTEMPT CHARGES OTHERWISE!

See, John? This is clearly your fault! Our esteemed investigative reporter has interpreted the order in such a way that it’s your obligation to keep him away from you.

The terror is now as strong as the stupid in this one.

I wonder if they keep mistletoe up in the Carroll County Jail this time of year?

    • I found that argument of Bill’s particularly fascinating. So according to Acme law if I were to send someone mail, as long as the recipient didn’t open it, it’s not contact. That’s nice to know (IYKWIMAITYD). And if I were to cause a third party to send them mail, say 5 or 20 pieces a day, as long as the recipient didn’t open it, it’s not contact and not harassment. Hmmmm.

I know that the State of Connecticut doesn’t agree with Acme, and I suspect that most states don’t either.

  9. Bill Schmalfeldt’s twitter pleadings are all for naught, and they serve no worthwhile purpose except to demonstrate that he is like a tantrumous little child. He seems to want to willfully ignore the basic truth that a judge is the one who interprets what the law says. What Bill Schmalfeldt thinks the law should say is of no consequence. His willful ignorance of law will continue to make his life miserable. Multiple court orders from multiple states should be a clue.

Soap on a rope, Shakey, soap on a rope.

  10. January 30th is going to be a treat!

It’ll get better when the court finds out that you practically drew a map to Judge Hughes’ house. I’m given to understand that judges tend to frown upon that kind of thing.

Well, William, you have about five weeks to pack a toiletries bag.

You should avoid wearing a watch to court, since the handcuffs will ruin it. Leave your belt at home because it’ll be taken from you. Ditto shoelaces, so get some loafers.

Luckily, your clothes all seem to be already imprinted with your name, which will make everybody’s job easier.

Aren’t you glad that you’re so much smarter than everyone else?

    Happy trails!

  11. I couldn’t be more forlorn that I won’t be able to witness the self-described master of dox-fu plead his ignorance of how computers work in person.

    That would be fun!

  12. How quickly can William contradict himself on a material point, you wonder?

One minute. That’s all it takes.

Ignorance is no excuse though I am not all that familiar with the WordPress platform backend. Now I know that one can turn off pingbacks.

Hoge has tried to use pingbacks to put me in jail before. He failed. He tried to use hashtag mentions. He failed.

    A query;

If pingbacks were used as a mechanism to deprive William of his liberty before, how can he plead ignorance of how they work now?

It seems self-evident that he cannot.

    • Heck. I tried to tell him the same thing as far as “ignorance is no excuse,” and he pretty much called me a prostitute.

He is a vile creature that one.

  13. Well, after I told Bill on Twitter that he needed to take this situation very seriously, he argued back “goodbye” (that’ll impress the judge!) and blocked me. He has no clue about what “indirect” contact means, and is going to be very rudely surprised on January 30th when he finds that being old, diseased and sad is not a defense to violating a no contact order. Ask the court to ban him under penalty of criminal contempt from the Internet for a year, John. That will truly hit him where it hurts.

So, is Hoge seeking a contempt charge because he really believes I violated the peace order he obtained based on a lie? Of course not.

He does it because it’s his way of attacking Brett Kimberlin for daring to sue him. He can’t lay a glove on Brett, and I am an easy target.

    YES! THIS!

You go, girl! I’m sure that a hairbrained conspiracy theory is going to keep you out of jail after publicly insulting the judge hearing your case!

There’s no way you can lose!

    • I have reached that point where I see the bad behavior above and all I can do is laugh at it. The judge on the other hand should see these tweets about him. He might not find it as funny.

All this bother, and what is the point? It was all just to serve his vexatious litigant, grandma murdering, speedway bombing, perjuring, forging pedophile “excellent friend.”

Most of these people around Kimberlin would actually be doing ok if they would just stay away from criminals (like the rest of us are doing) and don’t get wrapped up in any plots or whatever with them.

      • William has not only chosen the cross he wants to die on, he’s gone public with where he wants the nails driven into his wrists.

I’m not as convinced as everyone else is that he wants to be a martyr for Kimberlin. He’s an attention whore. For the next five weeks, he’ll appear and disapear (I predict at least six new Twitter accounts in that time), until he tries tries to beg John for some resolution that keeps him out of jail.

This is William’s version of masturbating on the subway.

      • And if he is given a pass, again, the endless caterwauling will begin anew. All WJJH wants is to BE LEFT ALONE.

      • You probably knew this better than I, but the guy has some real issues with blame attribution. Everything is always his victims’ fault. (you can imagine either Lee or Hoge when thinking over that sentence). And when his constant years long harassment actually lands him in hot water, the benefit of hindsight leads him to blame his victim – his own harassment is only mentioned in order to deny it.

I guess, when Kimberlin spoke to him, he learned to get Bill to do his dirty work by confirming Bill’s blame-avoiding, self-congratulating thinking. Notice Kimberlin himself is silent about what he thinks of the multiple harassment messes Bill got himself into. Kimberlin typically prefers to advance his views through third parties so maybe that is happening here too. Or maybe he realizes BS is spent and Kimberlin can’t use him anymore.

Eventually you run short on dupes.

  15. And it gets better:

I’ve already explained why it is no more contact than my writing Hoge’s name on a piece of paper and leaving it on a fireplug.

I suppose that might be true if said fireplug were inside Hoge’s house…..

      • Which means that people should not be engaging him in a discussion about this, thereby giving him the chance to polish his lies.

      • This is different from the Kimberlin situation: it’s completely safe to point out to him the correct actions to take. Because he will not listen to good advice if it conflicts with his choice to shift blame to his victim.

And even if he did take our advice to heart, no harm, since he’d have to quit his harassment.

Actually there is a little hope. He might end up needing for Paul Lemmen to recapitulate his advice about how difficult it is to get by in prison when you are dealing with chronic illness. He might at least listen to that since it doesn’t strictly involve a choice to shift blame on his victims.

It’s sad – and again, what was all this for? A bad end to a bad cause.

  16. If Bill were to obtain legal counsel the first thing his lawyer would tell him is, “Shut the hell up, dumbass!” Or words to that effect.

  17. A dozen lawyers could point-blank tell Schmalfeldt what the law is and where he stands, and he would deny it. He somehow knows so much more about the law than everyone else, even while he’s racking up multiple court orders from multiple states. Schmalfeldt seemingly suffers from a disconnect from reality. Maybe he can use that in court: “Your Honor, I’m innocent because I an unable to discern reality.”

    • Unless one of the dozen lawyers were a convicted perjurer, a convicted forger, a convicted bomber, and a repeat pedophile. He’d believe the advice of THAT one.

    • Ferguson, if he has any conscience, should feel just awful for his role in winding up that confused man to go attacking people all over the internet. His harassment victims have suffered all this time and CBBS has stepped way over the line in the last couple months. Hoge may like to show mercy but that is not going to help him later next year when his child porn indictment comes in.

And, again, all this for what? To retaliate against those who criticize their kiddy-diddling, grandma murdering, perjuring bomber hero, Brett Kimberlin.

      • Schmalfeldt can end up in jail and not a thing will happen to Ferguson. That’s a result of Schmalfeldt hearing what he likes to hear rather than paying attention to reality. If Schamlfeldt were to do a reality check about people like Ferguson he might be able to see those losers for what they really are – sideshow posers who never have to pay consequences. They leave that job to Schmalfeldt.

    • Ace legal scholar Ferguson has opined that the Cabin Boy™ has a First Amendment right to violate the peace order because it’s unconstitutional. The no-contact portion stems from Maryland’s harassment statute; harassment is one of the predicate acts that can trigger an peace order. Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that the state’s harassment law is constitutional in Galloway v. State, 781 A.2d 851 (2001). Galloway appealed to the Supreme Court, but the Supremes refused to hear his case. 535 U.S. 990 (cert. denied).

Bill has appealed both peace orders on constitutional ground, and the Court of Appeals refused to hear both appeals.

      • But don’t you see? The Courts are wrong about the law and Oliver Wendell Jones is right. the voices in his head tell him so!

  18. Glad someone grabbed this tweet. I was busy running errands and saw Bill invited people to explain things to him. I also see that the coward went private so people could NOT explain things to him.

Can’t lay a glove on Brett? Let’s look at the score shall we? Brett lost his state case. He is now an adjudicated pedophile. He was ordered to pay sanctions, which he still has not paid. He has had to admit in open court multiple cases of forging court documents in both Federal and State court. He’s had to dismiss several defendants from his Federal case.

What exactly would it take for Bill to consider Brett to have had a glove laid on him? My Lord he really is the World’s Most Stupid Man™
