Just One Word

Don’t get me wrong. I’m against littering, and I think we should do our best to keep the Earth neat and tidy. Still, some environmentalist reports seem a bit over the top.

DaTechGuy offers some real world facts and figures related to the (*gasp*) 268,940 tons of plastic reported to be lurking in the world’s oceans. He points out that’s less than the mass of 3 modern aircraft carriers. I’ll add this factoid: There is roughly 74 billion tonnes (that’s the metric kind) of uranium dissolved in the oceans.

Oh, BTW environmental morons, there is mercury in compact fluorescent bulbs too. You know, the ones that are going to save us all from global warming. Yes, it’s the same toxic material emitted by those evil coal-fired power plants that are poisoning the environment. That Hg symbol on the base of every one of those bulbs means it contains mercury. And just where do you idiots think that mercury goes when the bulb dies years before the claimed lifetime and is thrown out, huh? Answer: right into the environment.

The scary part is that people who “think” like this can vote. They are definitely NOT our moral or intellectual superiors.
