This Hubble image shows a mountain of dust and gas rising in the Carina Nebula. The top of a three-light-year tall pillar of cool hydrogen is being worn away by the radiation of nearby stars, while stars within the pillar unleash the jets of gas that stream from the peaks.

I love how this particular formation looks like an elephant rearing up trumpeting. Anyone else get a different picture from this “cosmic cloud?” Makes me feel like a child lying in the grass and looking up at the clouds and making up stories as they change form. So beautiful!
