This is the nucleus of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimernko as seen by Rosetta‘s OSIRIS instrument from a distance of just under 2,000 km on 29 July, 2014. The spacecraft is scheduled to begin its rendezvous with the comet in about a week.

It looks like an Ugg!
I’m real curious as to how the lander is going to perform. There isn’t much gravity to hold it in place and the comet looks like quite a rubble pile and may not have a very stable surface.
I kid you not, the lander is going tio use harpoons.
