Michael Malone, R. I. P.

The Running Wolf blog has been quiet for several days. This appears to be the reason why.

From the Huntsville Times: Jun. 23, 1970 – Jul. 18, 2014 Michael Wayne Malone, 44, of Huntsville, passed away Friday. He is survived by his wife, two children, and one brother.

A final post went up automatically on the 20th. Michael Malone only recently began commenting here at Hogewash!; he will be missed.

  1. Psalm 90: ‘He that dwelleth in the help of the Most High shall abide in the shelter of the God of heaven. He shall say unto the Lord: `Thou art my helper and my refuge. He is my God, and I will hope in Him.’ For He shall deliver thee from the snare of the hunters and from every troubling word. With His shoulders will He overshadow thee, and under His wings shalt thou have hope. With a shield will His truth encompass thee; thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day, nor for the thing that walketh in darkness, nor for the mishap and demon of noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, by unto thee shall it not come nigh. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and thou shalt see the reward of sinners. For Thou, O Lord, art my hope. Thou madest the Most High thy refuge; no evils shall come nigh thee, and no scourge shall draw nigh unto thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. On their hands shall they bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Upon the asp and basilisk shalt thou tread, and thou shalt trample upon the lion and drag-on. `For he hath set his hope on Me, and I will deliver him; I will shelter him because he hath known My name. He shall cry unto Me, and I will hearken unto him. I am with him in affliction, and I will rescue him and glorify him. With length of days will I satisfy him, and I will show him My salvation.’
Oh God, Thou who at every season and every hour, in heaven and on earth, art worshipped and glorified; O Christ our God, who art long-suffering, merciful and compassionate; who lovest the just and showest mercy upon the sinner; who callest all to salvation through the promise of bless-ings to come: O Lord, in this hour receive our brother Michael into eternal rest with Thou, and sanctify our souls, hallow our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds; deliver us from all tribulations, evil and distress. Compass us about with Thy holy Angels, that guided and guarded by them, we may attain to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of Thine unapproachable glory, for Thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.
May Eternal Light shine upon you my brother. Rest in the arms of our Savior.

  2. What a sad occurrence. You will be missed Michael. I hope your family is surrounded by love and friends in their time of sorrow. Requiestat in pachem

  3. Requiem æternam dona ei, Domine:
    et lux perpetua luceat ei.
    In memoria æterna erit iustus,
    ab auditione mala non timebit.

    • Anima eius et animae omnium fidelium defunctorum per misericordiam Dei requiescant in pace. Amen.

      • Justorum animae in manu Dei sunt,
et non tanget illos tormentum mortis.
        Visi sunt oculis insipientium mori,
        illi autem sunt in pace.

  4. I hope this sad news encourages everyone to appreciate and hold tight those they love, never miss any opportunity with them.

Many here had developed a friendly relationship, even a friendship, with Michael, and you also have my condolences, along with Michael’s family whom he loved so very much.

  5. What a horrible shock.

I’m saddened by this. I knew him for such a short time, but I have no doubt he was a good, wise and thoughtful man, someone I would have been proud to know.

Prayers go forth for his widow, his children, and his immortal soul.

  6. John, I’ll just say Godspeed and not recognize the a**hole group high-fiving right now. He wrote a fair blog, never strayed from facts, and served as an example for writing the truth.

    • To Michaels Children and relatives that one day may come across his blog and this one:

Your Dad tried to broker peace between people and he tried to convince someone to give up the course that they were on for their own good as well as others. He also defended the weak against people who were trying to do them harm.

You should be proud of what he was doing and who he was on the internet, you already know how he was in real life, but in this other one – this is what he was doing.

  7. Oh my…
I too was wondering what he had been up too, and looking forward to a new post at Running Wolf..
Prayers for his family being sent by all who enjoyed his writing.

  8. I know I haven’t been around for a while, but I’ve been following things, and he and I had shared a few emails. He never gave an indication anything was up. All my prayers go to his family.

  9. Forgive my impertinence, I am so shocked – what happened? He was, according to the obituary, a young man, just 44 years old.

  10. Reblogged this on The Thinking Man's Zombie and commented:
    This is a tremendous shock.

Malone (very few called him Michael) appeared on my very narrowly focused radar just a couple months ago. His attitude was agnostic, until he got a taste of the evidence available and some typical interaction with the man himself. Unsurprisingly, his objectivity, own-mindedness, willingness to listen and basic sanity inevitably led him to the same obvious conclusion as the rest of us. In a very short time he became a valuable ally (except for his Mole Moment) and friend.

    I will miss him.

  11. An unfortunate reminder that life is too short. How terrible for his family. I appreciated his pursuit of truth. I think Bill was genuine in saying that he would pray for his family. It’s nice that he said that and that Hoge let it through. The online quarrel might be fun to watch but at the end of the day these are all real people, with real families, and one of those families is now missing a father, husband, son, friend… I will lift a beer and toast him, though I never really knew him, and hope that he is in a better place than us.

  12. In an amazingly short time he became a recurrent blog for me to read. He had a powerful, exact, and fearless voice. I can only imagine what we would have seen from him. We have all lost someone great.

    • I agree, KK. he made quite an impact on me in the short time since I was introduced to his blog…I’ll be saying prayers for his family and friends. 44 is a very young age to depart from this world, how sad for his children. We need more positive forces in this world like his was…

  13. Prayers for his family. He was a good man and an interesting man. I’m sure he’ll be missed by many.

  14. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God

Rest in peace, Michael. We’re going to miss you.

  15. Damn. My first thought was WTF!!!??? My second thought was “There’s a lot of Michael Malones out there. Maybe it’s not him.”

But then, the obituary: “In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Theatre Huntsville.” That takes any remaining doubt out of the question. Rest in Peace, new friend. You were a very good egg.

And to think I was looking to razz him a little when he showed back up. Godspeed, Michael.

  16. I’m just stunned. Such a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent man. He was funny too, he really made me laugh out loud. Many thoughts and prayers for his wife and children.

Here’s to you Michael, no doubt you’ll give all the angels a run for their money.

  17. Startled and saddened to hear of Michael’s passing.

May God rest his eternal soul, and provide peace, comfort, and protection to Michael’s loved ones.

  18. May the Love and Light of God surround Michael on his journey home. You are missed Michael. Your wife and children are in my prayers.
