  1. I was a young kid during the Apollo landings, and the love of it has stayed with me forever. I may have mentioned the amount of time I debated the Apollo-hoaxers with Phil Plait and Jay Windley. But I can’t help but think that the Apollo program as a whole, with it’s artificial deadline, did more harm than good to the long term health of the space program. Perhaps if more time was taken and the hardware was more robust and multi-purpose, things may have turned out differently. Yes, I realize funding (or lack thereof) was a major factor in the direction of manned spaceflight, but with a stronger, more advanced foundation, perhaps that money could have been better spent.
