Dan Haar of the Hartford Courant seems unhappy that an overwhelming percentage of gun owners have failed to register their “assault weapons” under Connecticut’s recently enacted law. He wants the law to be enforced.
Emerson wrote a poem about an attempted assault weapons ban and confiscation. It begins
By the rude bridge that arched the flood …
If the opinion leaders in New England 240 years ago had been like Mr. Haar, our national anthem would be God Save the Queen.
Be interesting to see how many politicians get booted from office in the next Connecticut election cycle.
Hmm, we’re talking about 5% of the voters (100k of 2M registered) are disobeying this law. That’s enough to swing many elections by themselves and I suspect those politicians are trying to figure out how to delicately get their butts out of this jam before the Nov 2014 elections.
This is a peaceful and worthwhile rebellion against governmental tyranny. Just refuse to go along! Passive aggression works.
I ask this respectfully Mr. Hoge.
“By the rude bridge that arched the flood…”
Is this quote from “Concord Hymn” by Ralph Waldo Emerson ?
Mea culpa. Fixed it.
