I think so, Brain … look, if you want to be a leader with a large following, why not just drive slowly on a narrow, winding two-lane road?

While I drive the speed limit rather than slowly, to my “following” it’s probably the same thing to them. A few times, I’ve managed to collect tailgater chains of a dozen or so.
In many states failure to pull over and let traffic pass when there are more than seven cars behind you is a moving violation. Obey the speed limit is not a defense.
Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn’t considered that. After looking up Maryland traffic law the best I’ve been able to find so far is that going the general speed of traffic is best, and it is prudent to go below the limit during adverse road conditions, but it is illegal to go above the posted limit. Going slow seems to be a problem mainly when it is done in the left lane of a multi-lane road, it’s enough below the general traffic speed, and it’s done without valid reason such as road conditions.
I never speed up to block anyone who wants to use any of the passing zones in the stretches where it’s at one lane, and immediately when the road splits back into two lanes in the direction, I move to the right to let the other vehicles pass.
While hypermiling!
