  1. I just read an article indicating that astronomers had found something in the area where ISON should have appeared. Rumors of its demise may have been exaggerated.

    Can’t find the link again, it was a click-through on a click-through, if you know what I mean. I think it was a british paper’s website, but it was too many random links ago to be sure.

    I would think astronomers would take a day or two before coming out with a call on whether it survived or not, but we sure got an immediate call from the media didn’t we?

    It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of days. If the object seen today is ISON, it could yet re-establish a tail and trundle off into the abyss, it could fall apart as others have in the past, or it could just stumble off into the dark with no tail if all the volatiles are gone.

    Whatever happens, we learn something.
