I wish to take this opportunity to issue a retraction and apology. On 2 November, 2012, I did a post that contained the following description of Bill Schmalfeldt:

His bumbling style reminds me of the Foreign Office klutz played by Rowan Atkinson in Never Say Never Again (Nigel Small-Fawcett).

Over the succeeding eleven months, it has become clear that was an unfair comparison, and I wish to retract that description and offer my sincere apology to Mr. Atkinson.
