If the Shutdown Comes, …

… I will be affected. I was planning to attend an System Engineering Seminar about the James Webb Space Telescope project at Goddard Space Flight Center tomorrow, but it will be cancelled as a non-essential activity if the government shuts down.

During my years at Goddard, I never worked on JWST. I’m hoping to learn more about the program in order to do some writing about its progress.

  1. I will be affected indirectly, but prepared. After all, this will be about the 17th time in thirty years that the democrats have shut down the government because they refuse to negotiate with fellow Americans. Glad the Republicans are advocating for their constituents.

  2. This would actually make an amusing CW toned novelty song “When the shutdown comes…”, three verses, future-present-past, highlighting all the good things that happened and all the worthless things that didn’t related to the shutdown.
I’m advising everyone to stock up the things that governement provides that they won’t be able to get during the shutdown. Good deals on speeches, irritating regs and cheese if anyone runs short.

  3. I can’t come up with any way, offhand, that I’ll be affected…

I propose an experiment. Let’s defund the federal government entirely for three months.

I figure that’ll be long enough for me to determine any effect…
