An important idea here. However, I feel that the universe still lacks meaning even with consciousness and intelligence. What it gains by the presence of human perspective, is a shallow attempt to blanket it with meaning. I do agree, though, that without human beings, the universe is a vast and indifferent canvas. What qualifications it has are what qualifications we give it.
