My son Will and I are headed over to the range for some practice. I have a Thompson Contender in .45/70 that is my preferred hunting pistol for deer. Will wants to give it a try this fall, so he’ll be firing it for familiarization again. He sent a few round down range last month, but he needs more practice.
I’ll probably just plink with a .22 today, but I’ll need to get either the 7.62 x 39 or the .308 out for practice soon if Will decides to borrow the Contender for the fall. BTW, the Hornady ZombieMax ammo in 7.62 x 39 is a pretty good deer round.
UPDATE—Here a couple of pictures of Will and the .45/70. Yes, It kicks.
